PORTLAND, OR (September 30, 2026) – A new national poll conducted by Our Republic and Rasmussen Reports finds that a large percentage of likely voters would support a radical proposal to dismantle Israel, and a majority of voters blame the U.S. government or Israel for the war with Iran.
Nearly one in five likely voters say they would support a proposal to completely dismantle Israel and replace it with a Palestinian-led nation in exchange for ending the war with Iran and providing the United States with lower oil and gas prices.
Nineteen percent of likely voters said they would support such a proposal, compared with 58% who oppose it and 22% who are unsure. Among Democratic voters, 24% support the proposal.
Support was substantially higher among younger voters. Forty-six percent of voters ages 18–24 and 60% of those ages 25–29 said they would support the proposal.

The survey also found that voters are closely divided over which government is most responsible for the war. Forty-one percent primarily blame the U.S. government, 39% blame Iran’s government, and 10% blame Israel’s government. Taken together, 51% blame either the United States or Israel.
Just 74% of likely voters say they hope the United States ultimately wins the war, compared with 6% who hope Iran wins. Ten percent said they do not care who wins, and 11% were unsure.
Among Democrats, 24% said they either want Iran to win or do not care who wins. Seventy-seven percent of Democrats said they primarily blame either the U.S. or Israeli government for the war, compared with 15% who primarily blame Iran.
The survey of 1,026 likely U.S. voters was conducted September 20, 2026, by Rasmussen Reports and Our Republic. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
